Any great ideas for birthday party themes?

My son and daughter will be turning 6 and 5, respectivey, on the same day very soon. I would like to throw them a birthday party together. They’ll each get to invite 10 of of their friends. I have a huge terrace (approx 1000ftsq), which is where I like to hold these gatherings. I would also like for the theme to be action-packed so the kids are always busy having fun and not picking on each other. Any super ideas out there?

Try doing a carnival theme. Like you have a bunch of stands and each one has a different game or activity. You could even have one of the stands have drinks or something. Then the winners get small prizes like erasers, candy, and little toys.

Turn it into Oz, then on each invitation give the kid a certain character, and if you run out of main characters, just put "Munchkin". Then make a big Yellow brick road and have fun activities along the way, maybe make a cool house out of cardboard and have witches feet curled up under it. Get a shower curtain and a stand and have someone behind it with a megaphone to be "the great Oz. Just be creative and give them puzzles to solve and stuff, like to help the Tinman find his heart and the Scarecrow’s brain could be hiding in giant bales of hay.

hmm I think the best thing to try would be to use a theme of a cartoon/movie that they both like a lot (or if that never works out you could try using two different themes since one is a boy and ones a girl) and to keep it fun the whole time plan a lot of games and activies so every minute there is something happening. If it will be warm enough you could have like a water theme and have water balloons and stuff. Just go to the library to surf the web for children’s party games and if you have a trampoline that could take up some time too. Hope it works out!
