Birthday party ideas for 1-year old with older children to entertain?

I am celebrating my sons 1st birthday with food which makes the adults happy but how to entertain a variety of ages? I need ideas for loot bags/party favors for kids ages 1-8. I have a big yard and a limited budget to work with and the party is in September so the weather can be kinda "iffy". Any ideas will be appreciated.
I LOVE the treasuer hunt idea! do you know where i can find "gold coins" I can hide in my yard. I can have the kids decorate little treasure boxes!

If you want to make your party favors, there are ideas at http://www.chocolate-candy-mall.com/chocolate-party-favor.html

You could use the gold foil covered chocolate coins and have a treasure hunt in the back yard if the weather permits. Kids of all ages enjoy a good hunt. You could even customize the coins with stickers and use them as the party favor. Too birds/one stone… That is one of the ideas you will find at the link above.

    Have fun.

I went to the $ store and got favors there for the goody bags. The Dollar Tree has Elmo plates, cups, etc. My son’s 3rd birthday party is tomorrow and we always just have a big BBQ for family and friends.

For kids you can rent a Jumper. It really entertains kids of any age. For older people you can have a card game or something that you think that might like. Also a variety of food is always grate.

Up to the age of probably five chalk to draw on the patio or driveway is always a decent idea. We also had organized games like hide and seek, treasure hunts for items we bought at the dollar store and that we had laying around the house.

okay it might sound mean, but why are you doing anything for the other ages? have a cake for everyone else, give the 1 year old his own little cake, say happy birthday, give the kid a couple of presents and call it a day.

there is no need for anything else, it is the 1 year olds birthday not the other kids. the 1 year old will not remember so there is no need for a bunch of to do.
