When giving out party favors at a child’s b-day party, do you hand them out at the begining or end?

It’s my son’s first birthday and we’re inviting several kids who we will hand out a bag of party favors to. Do we do this at the beginning or end of the party?

At the end. That’s why the should go in a "loot bag" so that they can carry their goodies home.

Usually it’s done at the end of the party, unless the favors are integral to activities that are going to take place. This way they don’t get lost or broken before the children get home.

Favors are there to keep the guest children occupied and not feeling "left out" while the birthday boy or girl is opening presents, so I"d pass them out when the cake is served and before the presents are opened (or during). Best way to do that is have them at each child’s place setting at the table.

Depending on the age of the kids. A lot of young kids can’t handle the gifting process and it is good to give them their bag before the birthday boy opens his gifts. When kids get older they can handle that situation better and the bags are given to them just before it is time to leave.

Also, if there are many exact duplicate gifts in the bags, it is better to give the bags later so the kids will not be fighting over who’s toy is who’s.

depends if your giving food or something like candy to get kids all high strung best advice is to wait till the end!
if your giving some sort of little game or dollar store gift they can use at the party give when it starts.

At the end as they are going out the door.

For my daughter’s birthday parties, I always hand the goodie bags out at the end…usually whenever the kids are leaving, that way they have something fun to take home with them.
